"The third time I went to the hospital, I needed 13 stitches in my head I managed to catch about 6 songs of Ill Repute, then some suicidal threw me into a post My girlfriend started to cry cuz we had to leave before DRI played 50 lousy songs My blood stained shirt smelled of clove cigarettes But it sure looked pretty cool after a wash"
If you took that NOFX song, and changed the lyrics so its about me falling on my head while skating a pool this afternoon, rather than being about hitting your head at a show... it would be written about my day today.

(Looking bummed in the photo isnt because I cant open my eye all the way, but because my insurance from work doesn’t kick in for another week. So my hospital visit today will be paid for out of my pocket)

Well 2 weeks ago I took an old sheet of slides to my lab here in Portland, and thought I would have a shot scanned so I could send it to my buddy back in Iowa. After a week of waiting, I went and picked up the cd. I get it pulled up on the computer, and the scan is absolutely fucking atrocious. (This is the raw lab scan)

Now I know that slides, especially ones with low detail (IE Night shots) can be tricky, but when a full frame, 6x6 inch 100dpi scan, comes back with more grain than a tree, something is wrong.
I did my best to work with it, and get it to match the slide, color wise, (pictured below) but there was still nothing that could be done about all the noise.

So I had been toying with the idea anyway, and this was like the straw that broke my back. So I went and bought a Nikon Super Coolscan 9000 ED Drum scanner. Shit's nice. I then rescanned the picture, seeing if I could do any better than the lab. Here was what I managed to get.

I'm happy with the investment.

A paypal account has been created in my honor in order to fly me from Portland to Des Moines to witness Driving While Stupid's fourth and final last show. Because if I wasn't at it, them playing it would be pointless.
Praise, Thanks and probably a christmas card will be sent to all those that can help. The goal is $459 and we are already down to $400
GOAL:
459 -59 ----- 400
(updates will be made with every donation)
Thanks again
ps. If i do not make the goal, all who donated will recieve a refund (dont worry, you still get a christmas card reguardless)

So my penis is huge right now. Two reasons: Just bought one of these.
and I'm going to see these guys.
The scanner was prompted by my being controlling, and not wanting the lab to do it/not wanting to pay for them to do it, not to mention how shitty the scans come back looking each time.
The Gwar, well that was prompted by them being badass.
Here is some stuff I have done in the last few months.

This one is the single most reason for buying a scanner of my own, this scan came back so irreversibly soft, and off color, I dont actually know what they did to it.

I was looking at the myspace of Matt Chrisman and read a comment that Donnie had left him. I thought it was pretty cool: "I miss having a photographer willing to chop down trees into the busy street below with an axe in the middle of downtown to skate a spot."

I went to the most rad backyard bbq I have ever attended tonight. Ramp jam, grill, pinata full of condoms and fingers of alcohol, and the FIRE GAP! Which has to be the greatest skate obstacle ever. It was a custom roll-in made out of pallets and scrap wood, which lead to a kick ramp over a fire pit. I shot a roll of photos of the best trick contest over the fire. Then thinking it was over, did a random trick for fun, and was later handed a free board and told that I won.
More importantly to my own personal gains, THERE WAS A FUCKING FIRE GAP. So good.

I'm only 4 months late on posting the photos from my wedding. It was a Good day, Sarah and I got married.

The reverend Adam Taylor did the honors.

We had Speakers,

and a ring barer,

and everyone dressed for success.

I kissed the bride,

then we ate cake, pizza, and milk.

Some friends opted not to come, citing that it wasn’t worth the drive. Pretty weak really, but these 3 showed up, that’s all that really mattered.

We picked out our song, I wanted Final Countdown, but it didnt have it.

and good times were had by all.
Then we had the best show I've ever been to at a wedding reception.

Shrill played. It was my first time seeing them, and I need to do it again. I heard ahead of time that they are gnarly, they didn’t disappoint.
Take Control played too, but the pictures don’t exist.

Horseshoe Spatulas played, and I still maintain that they are the best band that's still around in Iowa. They even did a cover of Generator for me. It made my eyes water.
Then, Im not sure how they pulled it together, but even Driving While Stupid got back together for the night to play. Amazing. Thank you, again.

My wedding owns yours.

Me and the wife drove up to Seattle for their big street party fest thing so we could see the Murder City Devils reunion show, and while there, I stood next to fuckin Mikey Leblanc. I was pretty sure it was him so I tapped him on the shoulder asked to make sure, and got to shake his hand. He told me he liked my shirt.
Then on the ride home while Sarah was driving I dozed off to sleep, and then woke up when she hit a bird. It made her side view mirror disappear and the bird exploded all over the side of her car.
